Taxis and Limos

Aruba Taxi Guide (Updated 2026)

Getting around Aruba is part of the fun — and taxis are a great way to do it! Whether you’re headed from the airport to your hotel or planning a quick island hop, Aruba’s taxis are easy, reliable, and ready to take you wherever you want to go.

How Taxis Work in Aruba

No meters here. Taxi fares are fixed by destination, not by the taxi meter. Every licensed driver follows the same official rate list set by the Aruba Department of Public Traffic.

Per taxi, not per person. Fares apply to the whole vehicle — so up to five people can ride together without paying extra (kids under 2 don’t count toward the limit).

Cash is king. Most taxis only accept cash (USD or Aruban florins), so having small bills on hand is helpful.

Extra charges may apply. There’s a small surcharge on Sundays, official holidays, and late nights (after about 11 PM), so it’s good to plan accordingly.

Typical Taxi Fares

Here’s a snapshot of what rides commonly cost — think of these as helpful ballpark figures for your trip:

Route  Approx. Taxi Fare (USD)
Airport Oranjestad  ~ $20–$22
Airport Eagle Beach ~ $25–$28
Airport Palm Beach ~ $30–$33
Oranjestad  Eagle Beach ~ $6–$9
Oranjestad  Palm Beach ~ $9–$12

👉 These are fixed fares based on typical destinations — just agree on the price with your driver before you hop in.

What’s Included + Handy Tips

👜 Luggage:

One large bag and one carry-on per person are usually included. Extra bags may cost a little extra — generally a couple of dollars each.

💬 Tipping:

Tipping isn’t required but is always appreciated. Rounding up to the nearest dollar is a nice and easy way to show thanks.

📞 Ordering a Taxi:

Taxis are easy to find at spots like the airport taxi stand, cruise terminal, resort areas and downtown Oranjestad.

If you don’t see one nearby, your hotel or restaurant can often call one for you — especially handy after dinner or late at night.

🌙 Nighttime or Busy Hours:

Expect a small extra charge after about 11 PM and on Sundays or holidays. Same ride — just a little extra for those times.

🤝 Quick Tips for Smooth Rides

Ask the fare before you go, especially if it’s a longer ride, so there are no surprises.

Bring small bills — taxi drivers sometimes have limited change.

If you’re planning a full day of exploring, you might want to compare taxi costs with a rental car — it can be more flexible for beach hopping or sightseeing.

With these tips and fare examples, navigating Aruba by taxi should feel friendly and stress-free — ready for you to jump right into the sunshine and island vibes! ☀️
