Oranjestad
Description
Oranjestad is the capital of Aruba and is named after 'Huis van Oranje' (Orange House), the name of the Dutch Royal Family in 1824 during the Dutch colonization. Most of Aruba's government buildings are located in Oranjestad. You'll find great shopping throughout Main Street, Royal Plaza Mall, Renaissance Marketplace, and more.
You will also find merchants selling local arts, crafts and souvenirs alongside the marina as well as across from the cruise ship terminal. Downtown Oranjestad features plenty of traditional Dutch multicolored buildings, museums and great restaurants spread throughout the area.
